How to Set Up IPTV Parental Controls in TiviMate

Setting up parental controls for IPTV. PIN lock in TiviMate, hiding adult categories, locking specific channels, and account-level controls to keep kids safe.

IPTV services give you access to thousands of channels including content that is not appropriate for children. A couple of minutes setting up parental controls in TiviMate creates a safe viewing environment without having to monitor every viewing session.

Here is a complete guide to IPTV parental controls.

Understanding your options

There are two levels of parental control available:

  1. App-level controls (TiviMate): PIN locks on channels or groups, hidden categories, and startup group settings. These are the most practical controls for day-to-day use.

  2. Account-level controls: Contacting your IPTV provider to request that certain content categories not be included in your subscription. This is a more complete restriction but requires provider action.

Most families rely on TiviMate’s built-in controls, which are robust enough for household use.

Step 1: Enable PIN lock in TiviMate

  1. Open TiviMate
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon)
  3. Scroll to Parental Control
  4. Tap Enable Parental Control
  5. Set a 4-digit PIN — choose something your children will not guess
  6. Confirm the PIN

Once enabled, the PIN is required to access the TiviMate settings menu and any groups or channels you mark as locked.

Important: Write your PIN somewhere safe. If you forget it, the only way to reset TiviMate’s parental controls is to uninstall and reinstall the app, which erases your channel setup.

Step 2: Lock adult content groups

With parental control enabled, lock the adult content categories:

  1. Go to Settings > Groups
  2. Find any group named “Adult,” “18+,” “XXX,” or similar
  3. Tap the group → select Lock Group
  4. This group now requires the PIN to enter

You can also choose to completely hide these groups from the channel list:

  1. In Settings > Groups, select the adult group
  2. Toggle the Visible switch off
  3. The group disappears entirely from the channel menu

Hiding is more thorough than locking — a child cannot try to access a channel that is not visible.

Step 3: Create a kids-friendly favorites group

A positive approach alongside restriction is creating a dedicated kids group with only age-appropriate channels:

  1. Go to Settings > Groups > Add Group
  2. Name it “Kids” or “Children”
  3. Navigate to the channel list and add kids channels to this group (major kids TV networks, educational channels, animated content)
  4. Set this group as the startup default: Settings > Interface > Startup Group > Kids

Now when TiviMate opens, it goes directly to the kids channel list. The remote needs a PIN to reach anything outside that group.

Step 4: Lock individual channels

For finer control, you can lock specific channels within otherwise-accessible groups:

  1. Long-press any channel in TiviMate
  2. Select Edit Channel (or Channel Settings depending on TiviMate version)
  3. Enable Lock Channel

That specific channel now requires the PIN every time it is selected.

Step 5: Set up IPTV Smarters parental controls

If your household uses IPTV Smarters instead of TiviMate:

  1. Open IPTV Smarters → go to Settings
  2. Find the Parental Lock section
  3. Enable Lock Adult Content
  4. Set a PIN

Smarters’ parental controls are less granular than TiviMate — you can lock adult categories as a whole but cannot lock individual channels or create custom locked groups. For more control, TiviMate is the better choice.

Preventing PIN bypass

Children who are tech-savvy may try to bypass controls by:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the app
  • Resetting the Fire TV Stick to factory settings
  • Installing a different IPTV app with the same credentials

To prevent this:

Lock Fire TV settings: Go to Fire TV Settings > Preferences > Parental Controls and enable Amazon’s parental controls with a separate PIN. This prevents uninstalling apps and changing device settings without a PIN.

Use a separate kids device: If you have a dedicated device for children (a tablet or a second Fire TV Stick), consider creating a separate IPTV account with a kids-only channel list from the provider. This is the most watertight approach.

Account-level restrictions

If you want certain content categories excluded entirely from your subscription, contact IPTVBROS support and request it. The support team can configure your account to exclude adult content categories at the server level, so they never appear in your channel list regardless of which app you use.

This is the most thorough protection — content that does not load from the server cannot be accessed from the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I lock adult channels in TiviMate?

Go to Settings > Parental Control in TiviMate, enable the PIN lock, and set a 4-digit PIN. You can then lock specific groups or channels so they require the PIN to access. Adult category groups can be set to require PIN or hidden entirely.

Can I hide entire channel categories from kids in TiviMate?

Yes. In TiviMate, go to Settings > Groups. Select any group you want to hide (such as Adult or 18+ categories) and toggle it off. The group disappears from the channel menu entirely. Children cannot access channels they cannot see.

Is there a kids mode in IPTV apps?

TiviMate does not have a dedicated kids mode, but you can create a kids-only favorites group, lock all other groups with a PIN, and set the app to open to the kids group by default. This effectively creates a kids-safe viewing environment.
